Development co-operation: France
The objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
in France are to pursue European integration in order to guarantee
stability and prosperity on the continent, and to encourage progress
towards peace, democracy and development within the international
community. Independence and solidarity are two key principles in the
process of achieving the objectives.
For further information go to the French
Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Since 1998 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)
and the Ministry of Finance and the Economy have been the two
pillars of the French system of development co-operation. They
decide, manage, monitor and follow up assistance flows. The Minister
of co-operation is responsible for development co-operation under
authority of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Go to the website on international
co-operation and development at the site of the MoFA for further
details where you will also find a
short description on development aid (in
English).
The
French Development Agency (AFD) is the main channel for
development aid operations. It implements projects and programmes in
the field of development co-operation.
For more information on the organisational
structure of development aid in France, see the MoFA
website
The amount and distribution of official
