About the EU-LDC Network - Governance

The
EU-LDC Network Foundation
In February 2001, legal form was given to the
Network when it was established as a non-profit foundation under
Dutch law. The main aims of the EU-LDC Network Foundation are to
support dialogue and debate on EU-LDC issues, and to provide a
platform for the dissemination of relevant information, research,
analysis and comment.
Organisational Structure
The organisation and governance of the EU-LDC Network is set out
in the articles of association of the EU-LDC Foundation (see above).
The organisation is designed to reflect the constituency of the
Network while providing an effective management structure.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is chosen by and from the members of the
Network’s Board. Its role is to maintain regular contact with the
Network Secretariat and provide guidance on the running of Network
activities.

Foundation
The Board of the EU-LDC Foundation is composed of 12 members,
with at least half from developing regions. Its role is to set
guidelines for substantive and strategic network policy and to
determine the choice of themes and activities. In addition the Board
appoints members of the Executive Committee.

Supervisory Committee
The Board of the EU-LDC Network may establish a supervisory
Committee to provide advice on substantive issues. Uptil now, no permanent supervisory board has been appointed,
but experts have been involved on an ad-hoc basis.
Secretariat
The Secretariat is responsible for co-ordinating
the Network’s programme of activities and providing supporting
services to the Network management entities. The Secretariat is
chosen by the Steering Committee.
The current Network Secretariat is ECORYS-NEI B.V. (The
Netherlands Economic Institute).
