The Economic Research Forum (ERF), Cairo, Egypt
ERF was established in 1993 in order to help
improve the quality and increase the quantity of applied
policy-oriented economic research on the Arab Region, Turkey and
Iran. It is an independent, non-government, non-profit organisation,
which provides a platform for a wide range of views.
The mission of ERF is to initiate and fund
policy-relevant economic research, to publish and disseminate the
results of research activity to scholars, policymakers, and the
business community, and to function as a resource base for
researchers through its databank and documentation library.
ERF undertakes activities in the following areas:
- Research, ERF does not conduct research in-house but, rather,
acts as a research network, clearing-house, and facilitator. ERF
initiates joint research programs with other specialised
institutions, co-ordinates comparative cross-country research,
and provides assistance in accessing data and information.
- Conferences and workshops, ERF organises or co-sponsors
conferences and meetings in the MENA region.
- Publications, ERF publishes a newsletter (with articles,
digests of research and book reviews), working papers, books on
all ERF sponsored workshops and conferences, and its Regional
Indicators Report (with forecasts of trends, sectoral
developments and business climate).
- Networks, associated networks of ERF are FEMISE (analysis of
the Euro-Mediterranean partnerships) and the Global Development
Network (GDN).
- Resources, the Data, Documentation, and Reference Library at
ERF provides a wide selection of research material.
