The Center was established in 1998, as the first
overseas branch of one of the world’s most prestigious
institution, the University of Bologna, founded 1088 A.D. The
mission of the Center is to promote relations between the European
Union and Latin America through the development of multidisciplinary
academic and research activities that seek a better understanding of
the European – Latin American situation, cooperation and links.
The Center undertakes activities in the following
areas:

Research, developing three main subject areas:
First, the economic development of small and medium size
companies at the local level in Argentina and Latin America, for
which the Center has established the first permanent observatory
of small and medium size companies’ development in Argentina.
Second, democratic institution building, through the analysis of
the economic performance of political systems. Third,
comparative processes of regional integration in the Americas
and Europe.

Teaching, the Center offers a two-year Master’s
Program in International Relations, Europe – Latin America,
along with other Master’s Programs in Research Methodology
applied to social sciences, and Technology Innovation
Management.

Conferences and Workshops, in a broad
perspective and in different subjects ranging from regional
integration and international financial institutions, IT,
political reform in Argentina and international arbitration.

Networking, linking the Latin American academic,
political and business community through relations with major
institutions.
